Flying high

I am making a blog post while flying in an airplane, somewhete over Montana? I am doing it just because I can. Also to pass the time.

Things sure have changed since I was a kid. The only way to communicate while flying then was to scream REALLY loudly and hope someone on earth could hear you.

I am flying to Seattle and then to Hong Kong. Should be interesting!

  1. Today I saw a magazine article on Kunming and its amazing rock formations. It has more domestic tourism than international. Do you plan to visit that area?

This latest National Geographic magazine also has many pages on walking across the desert from Jeddah to KSA’s at Aqaba, 700 miles, where Lawrence of Arabia understood tin anguisth hat the British would betray the Arabs. It hasnt been walked for 47 years.

This morning I saw ‘Dawn of Planet of the Apes.’ It really seemed a metaphor for ‘to war or not to war’. Last night at the Edina I saw a French film about the life of Violette LeDuc, whom Simone de Beauvoir mentored. I had not heard of Violette before. Apparently she was quite impactful in feminist literature of the ’50’s and ’60’s. It was a beautiful film set in postwar Paris and later Provence in the 50’s. Violette’s relationship with her mother doomed her to friendlessness and lovelessness, yet she was productive in writing and also surviving.

Those are my recent travels within a 5 mile radius.

The Northern Plains of the Western Hemisphere is now due for another polar vortex starting Sunday. Our temps are dropping to 50 for a week. What does this pose for winter?

Your trip is rattling my cage. Let’s hear more de temps en temps. Hong Kong, wow!
